A NEW VERSION OF BS EN 360 HAS JUST BEEN PUBLISHED WITH SIGNIFICANT CHANGES.

The latest publication is much more than a simple update. The below image highlights (in green) all the changes between the old standard and the new – there is a lot of green.

en360 2023 highlighted changes

EN 360 is the European Standard for retractable-type fall arresters (SRLs). One of the main advancements of the 2023 version is the more stringent testing requirements. Notably, the dynamic testing requirements have been completely rewritten to better replicate the extreme conditions fall arrest equipment might undergo, including a wide temperature range and performance near full extraction. More thorough testing could mean that products certified to the new standard are safer to use than those only conforming to the old 2002 standard.

The 2023 publication supersedes all previous editions. Because of this, all fall arresters conforming to previous versions must be re-tested and recertified, when their current certificates expire.  For some manufacturers, this may require product designs to be modified and could even result in some products being withdrawn from sale.

Globestock are well prepared for the updated standard, and we are confident to complete certification within a couple of months. We will post updates as soon as completed.
